Hello,
As an avid proponent of children’s success in all facets of their lives, I volunteer my services within my community where I believe me, as an individual, or me as an Educational Consultant, could be of great use. As an Assistant Instructor at a local martial arts school, I volunteer my time in helping students learn self-respect, self- discipline, determination, team cooperation and independence.
As an Education Consultant, I volunteer my time at a local Child Readiness Council, which focuses on school preparedness, and connecting families with local resources. All of our futures depend on the preparation of our youth, and my goal is to eliminate and/or reduce the obstacles that impede their success.
I believe in the “whole-child” approach, which means, I recognize there are often a multitude of reasons that can prevent a child from reaching their optimal level of success. As previously mentioned, I never want a family’s access to food, hygiene and clothing essentials to be an additional reason as to why they are unable to focus more purposefully on academic success. It has been proven, that the acquisition of academic and social proficiencies are one of the best indicators of adult success. Based on the previously mentioned, I have chosen to take this ideology and address it within my own community, by providing and sponsoring a family food pantry.
Additionally, Ability: Special Education Unlocked prides itself in taking its beliefs one step further. Every year, I donate services to one family in-need, that without said services, may not be able to navigate the complexities of Special Education, and gain the accommodations they need for their child to make “meaningful progress” within their individualized academic program.
Respectfully,
Sonia Taylor-Smith
Sole proprietor of Ability: Special Education Unlocked
It is often communicated to me that this process can be somewhat stressful and overwhelming. We say, let us help you!
